Costumer Guest of Honor

 Janet Wilson AndersonCostume-Con 33’s Special Guest Miss Janet Wilson Anderson: As a rule Costume-Con usually doesn’t have a Special or Featured Guest like other cons, however we wanted to honor a very special friend who is well known throughout the costuming community.

Janet Wilson Anderson, a Los Angeles, California Costumer. Janet has been active in many forms of costuming for over thirty years, including theatrical, historical, and science fiction/fantasy costuming. She is also an award-winning costume designer.

She won the International Costumers Guild Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994, and is proud to be the founder of the Costumer’s Guild West, the co-founder of the International Costumer’s Guild; as well as founding Dean of Costume College. Janet was the Co-Chair of Costume-Con 8, the international costuming convention, in 1990.

 

Janet frequently lectures on costuming topics at colleges, universities, conferences, workshops, and private classes. In addition she is often appears as a judge at a wide variety of costume competitions.

Her work has been featured in the book “A Costume Maker’s Art” for which she wrote the principal introduction. Her work was recently seen in the Showtime special on Tudor Fashion..

Besides being the proud owner of “Alter Years,” Janet also collects costume books. The Anderson library currently holds over 3000 costume reference books.
